Deco Vibes

Recently, I've been feeling the deco vibe.  I've been reading Gloria Swanson's autobiography and looking over many of the glorious image and films of the period.  Gloria Swanson was a very fascinating lady and interesting biography.  When I finish reading the book, I'll give more thoughts and opinions.  Very beautiful and iconic lady.  I think she has the most amazing side profile and I'm sure many generations that look back on this period will gravitate towards some of her infamous images.

I thought it would be fun today to put on my Lilli Ann gaberdine coat from 1949 that I purchased back in the fall.  I love this coat and there is more about it here.     The hat I am wearing is a vintage 20s cloche hat.  I added the sterling rhinestone pin that I bought off of ebay a couple months ago for under $20 and I think it fits really well together.  I've been wearing this hat quite a lot this winter.  It is blue in nature so it doesn't quite go with the black Lilli Ann coat. I shall be on the hunt for a black cloche hat.   I also wanted to share with you a wig I recently bought.  They are so fun to wear and this is the first wig that I have bought.  It has a lovely bob to it.  I'll share more pictures in a future post without the hat.   My hair is kind of thin so to wear a wig feels fun as I am then gifted with a bunch of hair lol.

  1. You look the part, perfect outfit! I do really love that coat. I only learnt about Gloria Swanson last year, after I watched Sunset Boulevard and then a fellow blogger posted about the clothing range bearing her name.

  2. Love the idea of adding a brooch to a hat. The winter cloches I have already come with a little sparkle or design detail. I have an excuse to buy a plain one now!

  4. Kudos on the brooch for the hat! That is quite a lovely addition. The wig looks really pretty! Really nice with your face shape and the cloche. I'm excited to see it without a hat someday.

  6. Dear Joanna, you truly look incredible! That wig, my stars, it suits you to a tee and is incredibly face flattering. It's so neat to see someone else where a vintage inspired wig with a hat, and to see (as I'd been suspecting on myself) that pairing the two really, really helps the wig look like it's one's natural hair. Stunning deco inspired outfit - a true favourite!

  7. You look so romantic in that beautiful outfit. I can't believe that's a wig, it looks so natural, and the cloche hat suits you perfectly. Cute umbrella too! I love the art deco style, its so graceful and artistic.
