Sisterhood Of The Vintage Dress Australia and New Zealand

Here is an update on the Sisterhood of The Vintage Dress:)  We will pick up one more turn on the dress in the spring where it will make its way to Canada.  You can check the side bar for our other lovely ladies modeling the dress under the label "Sisterhood of The Vintage Dress"

Brook of the fabulous Missbandthebygones.   The dress took a nice adventure in Melborne to a beautiful cottage built around 1915 and also Little Miss got to be apart of the adventure:)   Can I say how well the coat goes with the dress?  So meant to be.  Beautiful.  Also, check out her blog to see pictures of "Little Miss".  :)

The lovely Angela at Mermaid's Purse in wonderful New Zealand took the dress for whirl:)  She accented the dress with a lovely belt and did quite some twirls:)  These really have been exciting adventures.  Thank you Angela.

Sisterhood of The Traveling Vintage Dress - Australia

Hello all, our lovely dress is still in Australia, then it will make it's final round to Canada.  Boy, has this dress been a lot of places!  I wanted to post a couple more updates to where our dress has been.

Sewing In The 60s

Catherine is a 60s blogger.  How fun is it that this dress also gets to join the 60s generation!! She looks so very lovely in this dress style with a brown belt, and floppy felt hat.   Love it!  Thanks Catherine!  Go check out her fun blog for more images of our wonderful dress!  I love the mod dresses she has made!

The dress also had a grand time with Judy.  Judy doesn't have a blog but we are so happy to have her join us here.   These images were from her front garden in Australia last month.  It's fall in Australia.  So this dress actually gets to see a lot of fall weather:)

Judy styled the dress with a turtle neck underneath.  So you see our magical traveling dress can even be worn in cold weather!  Thank you Judy.

Details of outfit:

The Travelling Dress
Wool long sleeved top:   no idea what brand or where I got it as it has been a wardrobe staple for years
Belt:                      Zara but purchased in an op-shop (thrift shop)
Boots:                  Sandler (Australian shoe brand), retail
Handbag:             vintage, acquired at a vintage market (this was its first outing!)
Bangles:               yellow, one of the lovely gifts accompanying The Travelling Dress
brass, acquired at a Trash & Treasure market about 25 years ago

Thank you lovely ladies for being apart of the vintage dress travels!

From New York to Australia, The Traveling Dress Continues!!

Very exciting!  The sisterhood of the vintage dress made a final USA stop with Desiree of Pop-o-matic Deluxe and then off to Australia with its first stop with Bonita of Lavender and Twill.  Ladies, this is so exciting to see how you all style this dress.  Thank you to all who have participated and who are going to participate!!  This has been a big highlight of my blog and means a great deal to me.  I love this!

If you'd like to catch some of the previous travels, here they are.

Desiree styled the lovely dress with a lovely powdery blue cardigan and check out those cute little sweater clips!  Thank you, Desiree for showing us how a cute cardi looks with the dress:)

Then, off to the first stop in Australia with Bonita.  Bonita, your hair is amazing and look at that lovely pastel pink tilt hat you incorporated into the style!

Thank you ladies, loving all these journeys and I know all the readers are too!!  This really is a true "sisterhood" dress.  All these amazing styles and different ways to see the dress.   More to come from Australia...stay tuned....

Sisterhood Of The Vintage Dress - New Travels

Some updates to the glorious places our dress has been traveling.  Sorry, I've been a little backlogged on this.

The lovely Cori Lynn at Poodles and Pin Curls, this dress got to visit Hawaii!!!!  Cori Lynn just totally outdid herself.  I want to be this dress!!!  She is also the queen of Bakelite and had some great accessories to match.  Oh the beaches and the scenery.  I had no idea such a beautiful temple existed in Hawaii.  Please go visit her blog and leave her a lovely comment.  You also will be blown away.

I literally want to cut and paste myself into these images:)

This dress really has had some very fun and wonderful journeys and memories and I thank all of you for participating in this adventure.  After spending some time in Hawaii, our dress was very lucky to dash off to Chicago:)  I am going to keep saying this.  I want to be this dress!

Our fine dress was wanting a nice twirl and dance by the lovely Jessica of ZellaMaybe.  She is a modern day Cindy Sherman.

I know Jessica had to think this was coming that I would use this photograph:)  Love the leg kick.  You ladies really make vintage inspiring and bring back the fun and joy of it all.  I love seeing this journey this dress is on.  Thank you!  Love it!

I love the photograph with the neighborhood dog!

Soon our dress will be making its way to Canada and then International.  We have one more US destination to go.

If you are in Canada and want to participate, drop me a line below.

Sewing With Rayon

I'm making it a goal to make a blouse from rayon.  I'd like this to be my next sewing project.  Do any of you have any tips or tricks you use when sewing with vintage rayon?  I'd appreciate any and all thoughts on the subject.  Do you cut your rayon with tissue underneath to avoid slipping?  Do you use a special needle?  Do you prewash?  Do you do anything special when sewing?

Thank you!!!  All tips and tricks welcome.

P.S.  has anyone done bound button holes on rayon or silks?  Boy, that sounds tricky!  I think I might skip this part of the blouse idea.

A big salute to rayon, until I become frustrated at the slippery nature:)

Sisterhood of The Vintage Dress Travel Updates!

Updates to our wonderful dress journey!  You ladies are all wearing it so well!!!  And, all these great accessory ideas.

Goody at EatTheBlog also choose to also introduce us to her much loved wombat.  This wombat is very special as he even gets to wear booties from 1935.   I love how all you ladies have different inspiration for this dress.   Spectator shoes and pink tights, love it :)  I actually have an ad somewhere for colorful tights that were from the 1930s...I'll have to see if I can find it.  But, onto the lovely dress...

Update….  found the article from a mid-1930s fashion magazine..

A stop in Texas, In Our Happy Place.  I love how Marie partnered this dress with a lovely textured sweater.  Modern meets vintage:)  Very lovely!

Thank you ladies!!!
