A special thank you to all of you who have already blogged about your vintage inspirations and entered the giveaway here. Guess what all my charming vintage blogging friends, I'm going to be adding to the pot! So, stay tuned for more glorious vintage gems to be added.
I'm hoping to have my post up soon about my vintage inspirations but I go so distracted with this current post that I wanted to send this one out first!
Do you ever look at vintage images and think wow, this looks like a current blogger? I've done this several times and I thought I would show you some of the matches. It's so nice to think that you might have a "vintage sister match" out there. I'm still looking for mine.
There are quite a few of you other bloggers out there that I really wanted to capture but I haven't quite seen or didn't get an image of your vintage counterpart. I wanted these matches to be quite similar so if I didn't find yours, maybe I just might see you in a future vintage image!
Can I say what a great time I had unearthing these vintage matches? It was so fun to see if some of you had a vintage sister! I hope you all enjoy this post too!

This image below came from an ebay auction for a rare 50's Kodachrome slide when I saw it I immediately thought this is Sylvie's vintage double. This lovely anyomous lady sure has a great smile just like Sylvie. I'm quite sure Sylvie would dig those glasses too!
Now tell me that lady is not Sylvie's vintage double!
(Please excuse the centering blogger is not cooperating.)
Vogue 1938 Cover, ah the glamour! Wonder if it's any coincidence that I also very much love this year in fashion.
I can quite imagine the lovely Amanda is this velvet suit with matching hat.

I had this image saved because of the peasant blouse then I thought hey this reminds me of Regiane:)

Many months ago, I had actually contacted the lovely Pearl about this ad and told her how much I thought this lady looked like her and an ad for pearls nonetheless!
When I saw this "Cat Eye Sunglass Ad", I totally saw Mid-Century Pink. I really do see her in a vintage cooking ad so maybe I might just find this in the future. So, I'm thinking MCP is the nice gal on the bottom left, what do you think? I think MCP totally rocks cat eye glasses:)
Everyday vintage photograph from ebay and Julie from FabGabs:
They have to be related!
Look at both these lovely 30's inspired ladies!

Check out the middle girl.
I think it's just too uncanny, maybe the above is actually Ticketybootupeney?

I saw two for Brittany so I figured maybe she has twin vintage sisters. I'm also thinking Brittany would totally dig her vintage twins jacket!
I know this lady styles her hair a bit different but I thought she looked a little like Laurence. I'm seeing a nice purple hat in your future dear Laurence:)

Check out D's new blog formally "Bunny's Victory" (link just below). I'd love to have a glamourous movie star as my double too!
I kind of picture Jessica from Chronically Vintage in some kind of vintage ski theme. I haven't quite found her actual vintage double but in the meantime this cute 50's doll looks a bit like her:) I once saw a playbill that I thought looked a bit like Jessica but now I can't seem to locate this image, so in the meantime...
If you are interested in finding yours, shoot me an email and I'll keep a keen out for yours!
I hope you all enjoy this post and thank you to all you lovely vintage ladies for participating in my blog post:)
Excellent matches!!! I have always been told I resemble Kim Novak. My mom received that compliment a lot in her younger days,
ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable post! You were right on the mark with these. I would love to have a vintage double, what fun!!
ReplyDeleteHow fun is this! :D Love to think that I was a model in another life.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would love to wear what my double is wearing!!!
ReplyDeleteMy friend Sylvie is also perfect.... all match really well, love this post.
Thank you so much - what fun! I love my double's fur, and she's totally my era. I love it! Thank you for this delightful effort!
ReplyDeleteThese are so awesome, how long did this take you?! Some of them are really uncanny.
ReplyDeleteYou know it was an over time idea. I've been seeing the bloggers "sisters" and I'd think one day I'd like to do a post on this. This isn't really a post you can do in a couple of days but I had so much fun collecting the matches.
DeleteWhat a fun post! There is actually a model that keeps popping up in a few 1940s knitting patterns from sun-glo and she reminds me a lot or Laura from Lilacs & Lace http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/3e/cd/89/3ecd89e2610a5a52542cdaf8cc813473.jpg
ReplyDeleteWow, that is so cool. Can I say I would love this dress knitted for me too? And her hair, oh my!
DeleteThis is really great! What an idea! Julie of FabGabs and I take pictures of old ads that look like friends.. Nice job putting it together! If you feel the urge to do a Man, I'd love to see whom I look like!
ReplyDeleteJesse Fowler (BrighterBakelite).
I'll keep my eyes posted:) Men are a bit more difficult, I mostly see them as "props" for the fashion models haha but maybe this might not be such a bad thing for you:)
DeleteThis is so much fun!!
ReplyDeleteI showed to my hubby and he thinks that I really have some resemblance with that model!
I loved it!! ♥
This is so fun, Joanna! I've always kept my eye out for my vintage twin but never found one. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThis was so entertaining. I was guessing who might be the match and got a few of them right. You must have had such fun doing this.
ReplyDeleteSuch a good blog post!!! I would love to find my vintage twin hehe! x
ReplyDeleteWhoah how did you...! Amazing, simply amazing! Especially the 4th 6th 7th and 9th. Wow, nice work. :)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness!!! How much fun is this!?!? You did such a good job!!! And that pic totally resembles me! Love!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome! I've found a vintage double or two as well- the one that most surprised me was stumbling across myself posing for Gil Elvgren! Even my boyfriend did a doubletake!
ReplyDeleteNow this would be a cool thing!
DeleteThis is really cute! I rarely look at another woman and think oh she looks like me, even wjhen someone swears up and down we're twins. And the blog looks amazing.
ReplyDeleteI have the most difficult time finding myself. You'd think I would have found her by now but it is more easy to find other people.
DeleteThis is so cool! Thank toy for finding my vintage double! You did a great job! Loved seeing the other doubles as well!
ReplyDeleteOh, and now I'm obsessed with the dress of my vintage double. It looks very complicated.
You are funny Anthea, this would be so awesome for you to make a dress like this. I love this dress too!
DeleteOops, forgive me my bad spelling! Maybe I will be able to recreate this dress :) You really inspired me!
ReplyDeleteHow nifty!! And spot on too!
ReplyDeleteRecently a fan of the gal I work for, who also models for her own Etsy shop, sent her a little photo of her vintage double!
xoxo

This is really cool! My sis always said I resembled Margot Frank. :D Especially since I had similar glasses about 10 years ago.

ReplyDeleteHello! I know this is totally random, but I found this blog post through Fab Gabs on facebook, and then today I was checking some vintage photos on flickr and... I found your vintage twin! How weird is that?

You know I would totally love this lady to be my vintage twin, in a Dior none the less! She's amazing to be compared with. Thank you so very much. I would love to look like her everyday:)
DeleteThis is such a great post! Love it! Maybe one day you will find mine =)
ReplyDeleteI'd love too:) They just seem to "pop" up so hopefully I'l see yours one day:)
DeleteJoanna dearest, this really is one of the most spectacularly awesome, creative, enjoyable posts I've ever read on a vintage blog (or any blog, for that matter). I love the thought, time, and love you clearly put in to (you've found some truly amazing vintage doppelgangers!).
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for including me - I would very happily rock that cute little doll's great vintage ski ensemble anytime! I'm accurately aware that, for better or worse, I don't look like a lot of other people, so please don't worry if you can't find a real life vintage gal who resembles me. In 29 years of life, I've never seen anyone (past or present) - relatives included - who looked much like me.
Again, I must tell you how much I completely love this post!!!
♥ Jessica
A challenge:)
DeleteThis is such a super fun, excellent post!!!! Really enjoyed it! What a great idea for a post, Joanna! :D
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh this is so much fun!!! I actually found myself repeatedly thinking "Wait which one is the blogger?". Such similarities!! Great eye Joanna!

So I saw this post the day it came out and was busy and forgot to respond. I love my double! How gorgeous is she!! I'm going to have to look into her more now.
ReplyDeleteI have to say some of these doubles really are AMAZING! A few I couldn't tell the difference between.
Great job Joanna!!
