From Within The Pages Of Vogue

Below are images of a Vogue trade bound volume that has several Vogue magazines in it from 1946.  I wonder if the trade version differs from the newsstand version of Vogue?   This was a great year because more resources  became available with the war ending.  The fascinating thing (besides the images of course) is that buried within one of the pages was an artists sketch with a swatch of material at the corner.  This Vogue volume is a trade edition and once belonged to Carlye Dress Corporation.  Interesting eh?  I love that this sketch has been sitting in this book for almost 70 years!  I could have spent all day photographing images from this volume because there are so many fascinating ones but I selected a few to showcase:

Below are images from the trade volume:

Before I even knew this was Adrian, I flagged this to photograph because it was such a beautiful suit!

Fascinating letter from nylon industry about shortage of hosiery:

I love, love, love this image, so timeless!

Sign me up for one of these bags...where can I find one?

Hope you enjoyed a peek through this trade volume:)

  3. Would you believe it, I'd never heard of Vogue putting out trade volumes before. How incredibly cool! You're such a lucky lady to have found one. Thank you so much for sharing these pages with us - you've now given me something else to ad to my vintage holy grail wish list.

  4. Thank you ladies for your marvelous comments:) I hadn't heard of trade volumes until recently either. But they are fascinating. I'm thinking there are more ads in these than the retail. I guess the only way to find out would be when I get a duplicate retail version. I found it on ebay:)
