Sunday Blossoms

This Sunday we decided to take a walk at our local arboretum.  We were happily surprised with all the lovely blossom trees and flowers in bloom.  Also, I was amazed as we walked through one part of the park and could smell the fragrance of flowers in bloom.  I think I could have sat there all day.

I was having great difficulty finding a top to wear.  I think this is something I'm going to have to try and focus on, some summer cotton or knit tops.  I settled on a 50's blouse and just tried to keep it simple.  I also wore a pair of Juliana earrings.  I don't own any other pieces of Juliana but it is certainly a designer for the future.  Do any of you have any favorite vintage designers?

  3. What a gorgeous bloom filled location to have right in your very own neighbourhood. All of these shots - and of course your elegant outfit - are so immensely pretty.

*PS* Do you have a classic white and blue/cream striped boatneck top? I just ask because I think it would look terrific with those Freddies pants, too, if you did.

    1. I wish! It's funny you should mention this type of top because I've been looking for a nautical top. If you see any good ones, please let me know! I've got one on my radar but I haven't hit the button on it yet. I'd love a boatneck top!

  4. Such beautiful colors, what a treat to see!

I like your casual outfit too, and I agree with Jessica that a striped knit top would look lovely on you. Another favorite summer style of mine that pairs perfectly with jeans is a peasant blouse. One in a pretty eyelet or floral fabric would look very nice on you, I think!

    1. I love this idea. Thank you so very much for suggesting it. I'm certainly putting a peasant blouse on my list and hopefully in the next month or two, it will be crossed out. I'd love a vintage one but I'm thinking it may end up being a recent vintage vibe blouse.

    2. You should try sewing one from a vintage pattern--they are actually quite simple to make! In fact, a peasant blouse was the very first garment I ever made :-)

  5. Beautiful photos! I had a button-back blouse too and found it difficult to get on and off. Lovely to see the Spring flowers.

  9. So gorgeous! Love the blooms everywhere.
I'm in a similar predicament regarding the blouse. I don't seem to have hardly any tops that I can put on for normal days. I have dresses, but not tops. I'm really interested to see what you find and where as I definitely need some help...
I read this post earlier today and forgot to comment and in between that time and now, I did go to Anthropologie and got a beautiful blouse in the clearance section with embroidery. You gave me a push, so thank you! ;-)

    1. Can't wait to see your new blouse! I think this is the way I will be going too. I'm looking more towards repo's. There are a few nice blouses on ebay. I just bought one from the UK. It is difficult to find vintage ones that aren't beat up. I think I just have them more on my radar now:) I love the idea of a peasant blouse that Jitterbug Doll clued me into.

  10. What an absolutely beautiful place and outfit. I love the details of the blouse and earrings.

I don't necessarily have a favorite vintage designer for tops but I do have a love affair with silk and see through nylon tops of the 1930's and 1940's. They are just so elegant and they provide all the coverage you may want without all the heat of having something heavy on.

As for jewelry, I'm a fan of Pennino (but good luck affording anything by him), Schiaparelli (I got a set of earrings for $10.00 because they needed a little metal repair), and Schreiner. But I love things that are super sparkly and over the top.

Can't wait to see a shot of you in your new 1940's glasses.
