Part II, Madame De Pompadour

One of the highlights of my trip was a planned visit to Madame De Pompadour and visiting with Anthea for the day.   This was a great little adventure.  The town of Utrecht is so lovely.  I didn't even get to touch the surface.  It certainly will deserve another visit.  I only wished I would have had more time.  I didn't get a change to make it to the vintage clothing stores.   I've been wanting to have my hair prepared in more of a vintage style without it being too bridal, which can happen if you walk into a local hair salon here.   So, Madame De Pompadour's is the perfect place to visit.  I wish there was one here in NYC.   Her prices are also so very reasonable!  I recommend liking her FB page and following her journey as she creates lovely vintage style hair.  I met up with fellow vintage blogger  Anthea . We have a lot of the same tastes in vintage style!   We both had our hair made up by the very talented Madame.  Gosh, I wish I could do my hair like this everyday!  She is awesome!  Anthea was looking for a 30s style and I was looking for a 40s style.
How cool is this shop?  I bet you all wish it was up at the top of your street.

Anthea made this lovely dress based upon a vintage design.  A lovely dress and print!  She is quite a talented seamstress.  She is also taking a pattern making class.  I wish I could do something like this close by where I live but I'm afraid NYC would just be too far.



This hat was a total lint collector and I really needed a lint brush.  Thank you to Anthea for snapping the photographs of me.

I realized after that I didn't get any pictures with the Madame herself so I swiped this one from her FB page.   She is so wonderful and I recommend a visit to her shop if you find yourself in Utricht.

The streets were so nice to walk through, look at the nice brick roads.





Next post, I will share our trip to a vintage card shop and my finds (I need to scan them:), including a lovely hat from Anthea!
Also, maybe I can squeeze in other images of my Holland vacation.

    Such a lovely city .. I've been to Amsterdam and Delft (where the blue/white pottery is made).

    It's so cool to find a hairstylist that knows how to do vintage hair styles .. :-)

    Ooohh, I actually gasped aloud when you took us inside of her resplendently lovely salon! I do, I really truly do wish that she was located just up the street from me. Both of your hairstyles turned out so incredibly beautiful! Perfect frock to partner with your 40s 'do, dear Joanna. I can only imagine what a dream experience this must have been for you.

    You and Anthea both look amazing! The Madame is a genius and both the 30's and 40's styles are brilliant! I am also having double frock envy as I love both yours and Anthea's. What a great vacation.

    I was 3 months near Utrecht, I visited many towns but I was just once in Utrcht and was night. I loved this town but I m sad cus I didnt saw more.

    Goodness when you told me you were going there I totally thought it was a museum or ship of some kind heheeh I'm so glad it was what it was though. It looks amazing. I wish we had more of these types of places in NY. It really is such a shame. You look fantastic and its so nice you met up with another blogger. Such fun! Look fwd to seeing more photos!! xox
